About the Author
Hi! I am a lifelong airline and aviation enthusiast, which was originally inspired by my love of travel. I have always gotten quite the warm and fuzzy feeling when I see a plane flying high above the ground, and I’m intrigued by the fun and exotic places that it could possibly be traveling as well as by the people who might be on the plane. When traveling inside of a passenger airplane, I often get that same warm and fuzzy feeling when I look down at the lands we are traveling over, and find myself wondering what the people are like, what the culture is like, and I am always amazed by the plane’s ability to connect people from vastly different planes all around the world.
Some of my first plane rides included (like most people) going to Florida, but as I got older I also traveled to places such as Mexico, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica as well as Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia. I’ve also been skydiving a few times which is absolutely AH-MAZ-ING and I am completely in love with the sport. I am pretty much addicted to anything that will get me closer to the sky. I have also spent much time parasailing and paragliding while on my travels.
It was certainly my love of travel and all things related to commercial flight that led me to get in to some of my other hobbies such as aircraft photography and aircraft spotting. I’ve always had a passion for all things photography and I love combining my love of photo taking with my love of travel. Taking pictures of aircraft around the world is certainly the best of all worlds if you ask me, and it is what keeps me getting out of bed every single morning.
I started getting in to aircraft photography as a hobby before I started aircraft spotting, but the two really do go hand in hand! I’m a bit of a statistics nerds and tracking junkie, so it’s really a lot of fun to keep track of all the details of the airplanes as you go along!
When I am not doing something related to travel/airlines/aviation or photography, you might find me working on my blog or occasionally you will find me at the day job. I’ve had a hard time settling down at a full time 9 to 5 job at this point in my life and have found it really suits my personality to dibble and dabbles in many different trades. In the summer, I often work in landscaping and part time as a white water rafting guide. In the fall, I work in popular ski resorts. I also do some freelance writing throughout the year. I love to bounce around so I’ve worked at ski resorts across the United States including in Maine, Vermont, Wyoming and Colorado. I have a heart that truly isn’t meant to stay in one place! I might settle down one day, but so far this lifestyle is getting me by, and I’m totally digging it!
